This isn't tied to any specific game launch — it's the same question anyone with a PS5 already asks, whatever they play. Only three accessory decisions actually change something real; everything else is marketing noise.

Do you need a different controller?
The standard DualSense that ships with the console is a complete way to play — you're not missing anything essential. Pro controllers (DualSense Edge, Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded, Nacon Revolution 5 Pro) only matter if you'll actually use button remapping, back paddles, or wear-resistant Hall-effect sticks. If you don't know whether you need them, you probably don't need them yet.

Is a charging dock worth it?
The DualSense's battery life (roughly 5-6 hours per charge) is a known weak point of the PS5. A charging dock keeps a spare controller topped up without tying up one of the console's few USB ports — most useful if multiple people play in your household or you play long back-to-back sessions.

Do you need more storage?

Do I need a heatsink for a PS5 SSD?
Yes. The PS5's M.2 slot has no built-in way to dissipate heat, so an SSD without a heatsink can overheat. Some drives, like the WD_BLACK SN850P, include one designed to fit and officially licensed; others require buying a separate heatsink that fits within the slot's height limit.
Can I use my PS4 controller on PS5?
Only in a limited way: a DualShock 4 works with most PS4 games running in backward compatibility, but not with native PS5 titles, and it loses features like the DualSense's adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. To play PS5 titles you need a PS5 controller.
Do I actually need a pro controller like the DualSense Edge?
