Our verdict
This is the pad that beats Sony at its own customization game, and it is worth being specific about how. The DualSense Edge gives you two back buttons and swappable stick modules; this gives you eleven interchangeable components, four mappable buttons and a six-button fightpad module, and its sticks and triggers are Hall-effect — magnetic sensing that does not wear the way potentiometer sticks do, which is the failure that eventually kills most pro controllers. It also lasts around four times longer per charge. What you give up is precisely what makes a DualSense feel like a DualSense. Haptic feedback and adaptive triggers are Sony's own technology and no third-party pad has them, so a game built around trigger resistance loses that layer entirely. There is no Bluetooth either, and reviewers consistently note rattle in the fightpad buttons. So it is the best buy here for a competitive player who wants a pad tuned to their hands and expects it to outlast the warranty — and the wrong buy for someone who plays single-player games for the immersion.
