Picksights methodology
- Independent certification (NSF/IAPMO) is the one claim worth trusting here — a manufacturer's own spec sheet and a third-party-verified reduction panel are not the same thing, and only one of these three carries the latter.
- Running cost is not the sticker price. A cheap gravity filter's cartridge can cost more per gallon than a pricier reverse-osmosis system's, depending on your local water hardness.
- Every unit in this category is installation-free — the real differences are certification, filter economics, and daily convenience, not plumbing.
