Our verdict

The budget answer, and it earns that spot honestly rather than by default: the HERO sensor is the real thing, not a cut-down version, and 250 hours on one AA battery means you will genuinely forget it needs power. What you give up against the two mice above is weight and the very top tier of polling rate and click tuning — for most players outside competitive FPS, neither is what decides a match.

Strengths and limitations

Pros

  • Around $40 — roughly a quarter of the price of either mouse above it
  • 250-hour battery life on a single standard AA battery, with no proprietary charging cable to lose
  • The same zero-smoothing HERO sensor family used in far more expensive Logitech mice

Cons

  • 99g is heavy next to the two sub-65g flagships in this category
  • No high-polling-rate mode or tunable switches — a straightforward wireless mouse, not a competitive-flagship one
  • 6 buttons and no companion software depth beyond basic remapping
