Robot Vacuums and Pet Hair: What the Data Actually Shows

The honest answer

Of the six robots in our ranking, we only have an independent hair-tangling measurement for one: the eufy Omni C28, with a measured 0% hair-wrap result in third-party testing. We don't have that same data point for the other five, so rather than fake a full ranking, here's exactly what we know and what we don't.

"Hair-wrap" is a different problem from general suction, and pascal figures don't predict it well — a robot with high suction can still tangle if the main brush isn't designed to keep hair from wrapping around the roller shaft. Very few manufacturers publish an actual hair-tangling test, and we only cite the one that exists.

Number 1: eufy Omni C28

PS8.4/10

Best value

The pick for most people, and the reason is a single measured number: zero hair wrap. Tangled brush rolls are what turns a robot vacuum into a weekly chore, and this one avoids it while cleaning carpet and picking up pet hair as well as machines costing twice as much. You give up flagship obstacle avoidance, so it will need rescuing more often in a cluttered room. If your floors are reasonably clear, that trade saves you $500.

Pros

  • A measured 0% hair-wrap result — the failure that ruins most robot vacuums in homes with long hair
  • Vacuum Wars keeps it as its budget pick ahead of newer, cheaper rivals
  • Roller mop and multifunction dock at a price where those are usually absent

Cons

  • Obstacle avoidance is clearly behind the Roborock flagship
  • Around $500 is still a real outlay for a 'budget' pick
  • Fewer refinements in app and dock polish than the flagships

What about the other five robots?

All of them clean well in the tests we do have — just not this specific one. If pet hair isn't your main problem, our full ranking compares all six on overall cleaning performance, navigation and dock automation, using the same disclosed formula we use across the site.

FAQ

Which robot vacuum is best for pet hair?

Of the six models we cover, only the eufy Omni C28 has an independent hair-tangling measurement: 0% in third-party testing. It's the one recommendation we can make with real data behind it for this specific problem.

Why isn't there a full ranking for pet hair?

Because we don't hold comparable hair-tangling measurements for the other five models. Building a ranking without that data would mean inventing an order, which is exactly what we try to avoid at Picksights.

What should I look for if my current robot keeps tangling on long hair?

Look for specs that explicitly mention hair-tangling test results or anti-tangle brush design, not just suction power in pascals — suction doesn't predict this specific problem well.
